Make Your Kid's Drawing Dance
A person-shaped drawing can be turned into a short animation that dances, jumps, or walks. You upload the drawing. Your child does not use the demo.
At a glance
A stick person with a head, two arms, and two legs is the kind of drawing this system was built for. A tree, a car, or a photo of a child is not. Meta’s post says parents and children can watch the result. The demo terms say the child does not operate the demo. Follow the terms.

| Meta Animated Drawings | Turn a humanlike drawing into a short dance, jump, or walk | 18+, and you do not let a child use it. The terms also say not to use it if you live in Illinois or Texas, or if the drawing was made there. No name on the drawing. | No price in the 2021 post or the terms page we read. The code repo is archived, so a self-hosted copy is not a maintained product. |
Who does what
Kid does
- Draws one person-shaped character on a clear background
- Watches the animation you already made
- Says whether it looks like their person
Parent does
- Checks the drawing for names and faces that are real
- Uploads it yourself, if the demo still loads and the terms allow you
- Declines research use unless you have read that choice and agree
- Does not post the animation with a child’s name
Materials
- Paper and a bold pen. Meta’s write-up says outlines and crowded pages are harder.
- A photo or scan of that drawing only
- The demo, if it is up, used by an adult who meets the terms
Steps
- Kid Draw one character with a head, two arms, and two legs, and space around it. “Tadpole” people with arms on the head are discussed in the research. They are harder. A separated head and body is the safer drawing.
- Parent Look for a name, a school, or a real face. If it is there, do not upload that page. Draw a copy without it.
- Parent Read the demo terms before you upload. If you are in Illinois or Texas, or the drawing was made there, the terms we read say not to use the demo. Stop.
- Parent Upload the drawing yourself. If the site does not load, stop. The GitHub repo was archived on the date in its note, 09-03-25. We are not writing install steps for an unmaintained repo.
- Parent If it asks to use the drawing for research, that choice was optional in the paper, and refusing did not block the animation. The demo terms also say submitted material can be used and that you may not be able to delete it, because it is not tied to your name. Read the screen in front of you. It may have changed.
- Together Watch. The 2021 post says a figure can dance, skip, and jump, and that a missing limb can make an animation fail or need a correction. If it looks wrong, treat that as the tool missing the drawing, not as the drawing being bad.
- Parent Download only if you want a copy, and do not add a child’s name to the file. The 2021 post says you can download and share. The terms limit how you may use the animation. Read them before you post it.
Copy-paste prompts
This prompt is a paper check. It does not upload anything.
Will this drawing animate?
Check the drawing before you upload
I'm a parent. Describe what a drawing needs so a tool like Animated Drawings can make a person-shaped figure dance, jump, or walk. My child is [AGE]. The drawing is of: [WHAT THEY DREW]. Say yes or no, and if no, tell us one change to draw on paper (for example a head, two arms, and two legs, with space between the figure and other shapes). Do not ask us to upload a photo of a person. Do not ask for a name.
What you’ll end up with
A short animation of a drawing, if the demo works and the figure is clear. Nothing you can hold.
Safety box
- The child does not use the demo. That is in the terms, and it matches the under-13 rule on this site. Safety & Ages hub
- No name, school, face, or photo. The terms forbid identifying information. A drawing of a real, recognizable person is a bad idea even if the terms’ wording is about names.
- Research use is a choice. Do not click through it on autopilot. The terms we read say you may not be able to delete what you submitted.
- Illinois and Texas: excluded in the terms page we opened. If that is you, skip this project.
- Copyright: the terms say not to upload a drawing of someone else’s character.
- The site may be gone. Archived code is not a promise that a parent can run it. If the demo is down, color the drawing instead.
Age adaptations
Variations & next projects
- No demo: you flip between two drawings, arms up and arms down. That is a dance they can hold.
- A coloring page of the same character is From Scribble to Creature.
- Do not switch to a photo-to-video tool. This page is drawings only.
Source & inspiration
Animating a drawing of a humanlike figure so it can dance, skip, or jump, in a matter of minutes, and the choice to submit a drawing to improve the model, come from Meta's December 2021 post. The demo terms we opened say you must be 18 or the age of majority, you must not let someone under 18 use the demo, the file must be your own flat drawing with nothing that identifies a person, and residents of Illinois and Texas are excluded. A research paper on the method says consenting to research use was optional and refusing it did not block the animation. The GitHub project note dated 09-03-25 says the repository was archived and is no longer maintained. This guide does not promise the website still loads. The prompt here is ours.
